Welcome to the Banning Behavior unit!

A bright red stop sign in the countryside.
Laws and rules are an important part of society. Without them, there would be chaos. They aren’t perfect, though, and they’re constantly being changed. How are laws made, and what are some difficult decisions involved in making them? And how can we change rules that are unfair? This is what we’ll be reading and thinking about in this unit.
In this unit, you will:
  • Learn about the creation and removal of laws
  • Think about the purpose of laws and whether they are helpful
  • Learn about events affected or caused by laws
By:
  • Watching videos to help you understand what good readers do
  • Reading and answering questions about literary and informational texts
  • Learning new academic words
In order to answer the essential question: Do we need laws to regulate what we do?
